God is greater than the highs and lows

Religions across the world attribute superlative qualities to God. Even the term God is defined as “that which exists” so that there is no scope for atheists to even propose any argument. For easy conception and imagination, we conceive God in human form and worship Him. But if God is human, it needs an explanation to prove how God is greater than the highs and lows, that normal mortals like us experience in our life.

God is beyond all dualities. The world consists of only 2 types of things: the conscious and the unconscious. We are conscious. We exist, and we experience the world. The world doesn’t have a consciousness of its own. It’s experienced by conscious beings. It doesn’t know that it exists; nor does it know that it is being experienced.

God is beyond human comprehension

As God is attributed all superlative qualities, obviously the God is beyond human comprehension. The nuance lies in the fact that even we, who are conscious, are limited by our consciousness.

For example, when we are awake, we experience this universe. While we are asleep and are dreaming, we experience a totally different world. And, when we are in deep sleep state, we are not even aware that we exist. Thus our consciousness has 3 states and our experiences are limited by the limitations of the 3 states.

God, or someone who has attained self-realization, has reacted the state of condensed consciousness or the conscious singularity. It means, His conscious is unlimited. It is not limited by the boundaries of space, time and energy. That’s why are intuitively describe God as omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

God is omnipotent

Human energy is limited. Even the most powerful animal on earth has limited energy. Even the greatest of unclears and stars in the space have limited energy.

But God has unlimited energy. That’s how He was able to create the universe. He has boundless power. One would wonder, if God has all powers, doesn’t he lack the quality of “powerless”? By definition, any quality can be attributed to God. That’s true. God has limitless powers.

At the same time, He is powerless too. That doesn’t mean, He is weak. It just means that He is beyond the two categories of being powerful or powerless.

God is Omniscient

God has unlimited knowledge. We know that God knows everything. He knows the past, the present and the future. Almost all religions believe that God’s knowledge is beyond the limitations of time. How’s this even possible?

Well, we tend to think of it as an impossibility because we are bound by time and cannot even conceive of such a possibility. For someone who’s realized oneself, this is just how it is and is perfectly normal.

God is Omnipresent

God is present everywhere. Like how we discussed the all-knowing characteristic of God, we know that God is present everywhere. It sounds like a logical impossibility.

Spatial limitation is only for finite bodies. If a body is infinitely large, it is just present everywhere, by definition. For instance, space is present everywhere. So God is someone or a thing that is beyond the limitation of the 3 dimensional space that we’re bound in.

Some texts in Hinduism proclaim God as the One beyond both space and time.

God is beyond all dualities

Everything in the world has an opposite. Happiness is opposite to sadness. Richness to poverty, and so on. God is beyond all such dualities.

In fact one of the earliest definitions of God, that comes from ancient India, describes God as Sat-Chit-Ananda, i.e., Existence, Consciousness and Bliss. It essentially means, God exists, God is pure awareness and God is unlimited, perpetual bliss or peace.

The concept of Non-Dualism

If God is present everywhere, everything that we see is actually god. That means, everything that exists is God. God is the only thing that exists. Therefore, in reality, there is no duality. God alone exists.
